Ian Ross Phillips is an associate whose practice focuses on litigation. Ian graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2015. Prior to joining the firm, Ian served as a term law clerk for the Honorable Paul D. Stickney in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. As a law clerk, Ian gained extensive experience analyzing a variety of cases from initial filing through final judgment.
While in law school, Ian participated in a wide array of organizations. He was president of the International Law Review Association, which publishes The International Lawyer, an official publication of the ABA and the second most widely read legal journal in the world. Ian also served as a Vice-Chair of the SMU Board of Advocates and participated in many off-campus competitions, including the ABA Client Counseling Competition, where he was named regional champion and national runner-up. Based on his advocacy skills, Ian was selected for membership in The Order of The Barristers. In the SMU Student Senate, Ian represented his fellow law students as a senator and then served as Graduate Affairs Officer, representing all graduate students in the senate. Acting as a student attorney in the SMU Criminal Justice Clinic, Ian represented numerous clients in criminal proceedings and was able to obtain many positive outcomes for his clients. Ian was also a member of the Jackson Walker Moot Court Board for two years, a recipient of the prestigious John E. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship, and an elected member to the Barristers, a student service organization.
In his free time, Ian enjoys attending MotoGP races, motorcycle cross-country touring, and reading about U.S. naval and aviation history.
